  Solid-state hard drives, or SSDs, may appear to threaten the market position of conventional hard drive manufacturers, but Seagate CEO Bill Watkins isn't worried. In the event the drives do become a threat, Watkins views Seagate's patent war chest as an essential part of any SSD versus HDD throwdown that might occur in the mainstream market.
